About our 2 Week Puppy Training Program
Our goal is to help your puppy develop good habits and become a well-rounded, well-behaved dog. Here's an overview of the various aspects we will cover during this training program.
1. Sleep Schedule: By the end of this program, we aim to have your puppy sleeping in their crate. Most puppies can go through the night without needing a potty break at this stage, although some may require one. We understand that each puppy has unique needs, and we will tailor our approach accordingly. While some complaining from your puppy is normal, it will gradually lessen as they adapt to the crate.
2. Potty Training: We will continue working on potty training to ensure success at home. Your puppy will be taken outside to go potty at least once an hour, throughout the day. Additionally, we will encourage regular crate naps during the day to aid in their potty training journey.
3. Name Recognition: Teaching your puppy their name is an important aspect of their training. During this program, we will focus on helping your puppy recognize their name and respond to it promptly. This will enhance communication and create a strong bond between you and your furry friend.
4. "Manding" Training: We will continue to work on teaching your puppy the concept of "manding," which involves encouraging them to offer polite behaviors to gain attention or rewards. This positive reinforcement technique helps establish good manners and encourages your puppy's engagement with you.
5. Leash Introduction: Introducing your puppy to the leash is a crucial step in their training. We will gradually acclimate them to the leash, teaching them to walk alongside you calmly and confidently. This will set the foundation for future leash training as they grow.
6. Adjustment Period: By now, your puppy will have surpassed the initial adjustment period of being away from their littermates. They will have settled into their new environment and become more comfortable in their surroundings. This allows us to focus on further training and development.
7. Basic Commands: At this stage, your puppy will have mastered the command "sit" and will be working on learning the command "down." We will continue to reinforce these commands and help your puppy become proficient in following them consistently.
8. Manners Development: Basic manners, such as not jumping or barking rudely, are essential for a well-behaved dog. We will guide your puppy in learning proper behavior and encourage positive interaction with people and other animals.
For clients enrolled in our 2-week training program, we provide an additional 2 weeks of text support and phone calls as needed. We believe in providing ongoing assistance to ensure the success of your puppy's training journey.
