Our Commitment:

Our puppies are whelped and raised right inside our home, meaning they are gently handled by us and our children right from the start. We feel this early interaction helps encourage young puppies to be well-adjusted, confident, lifelong companions. Our puppies are kept with their mother from birth to 8 weeks to learn basic puppy manners, how to establish social relationships with litter mates, and what behaviors are acceptable. This early, ongoing learning experience plays an important role in helping each puppy realize its full potential as a dog and companion. Once they reach the age of 8 weeks they are ready to be introduced to their new "forever" family.
We believe good food (and supplements) equals good health. Our dogs and puppies are members of our family and eat only the best quality organic and grain-free food. Their water is twice filtered to remove lead, heavy metals, chlorine, and fluoride. All our breeding dogs receive high-quality supplements, including DHA, to ensure the proper growth and development of our babies.
At Windsong, the two things that are the most important to us when breeding is health and temperament. All of our adults are fully tested before breeding and our puppies come with a written two-year health guarantee.
All of our puppies come from parents who are of exceptional bloodlines and have been completely genetically tested through Paw Print Genetics and OFA.

About Doodles

Goldendoodles are… highly intelligent, easy to train, and great with children. They are friendly, loving, affectionate dogs that do best when they are with their family. With an eagerness to please as well as a very playful nature, they are loyal companions with easy dispositions. They are versatile working dogs. Goldendoodles have achieved success as guide dogs, service dogs, and therapy dogs. They do well with agility and obedience training.

Goldendoodles are typically not good “watchdogs.” In fact, we train our dogs NOT to bark and to be quiet, well-behaved family members. This is helpful as most people live in highly populated cities and suburbs. We hope that our commonly asked questions listed below, help you navigate through the puppy selection process.

What Sizes do Windsong Doodles come in?

Windsong Doodles are bred in a variety of sizes.

Toy- under 15lbs and under 14 inches at the shoulder

Petite Mini- 15-25lbs and under 16 inches at shoulders

Mini-- 25-35lbs and under 18 inches at shoulders

Medium- 35-45lbs and under 18-21 inches at shoulders

(Small) Standards- 45-55lbs and under 24 inches at the shoulder

Large Standards- 60lbs plus and 24 inches and over at shoulders.

How are Doodles categorized?

F1- First Generation. Poodle X Golden Retriever or OES = 50% Poodle 50% Golden Retriever or 50% Old English Sheepdog The coat is always wavy. This generation is the most apt to lightly shed. They also typically have nice wide heads.

F1b- Poodle X F1 Goldendoodle or F1 Sheepadoodle = 75% Poodle and 25% Golden Retriever/OES Coats are usually split down the litter. Half are wavy and half are curly. It is a misconception that this is the BEST generation for allergy sufferers. It is not the best because the F1 parent still carries for improper coat.

F1bb- Poodle X F1b Goldendoodle = 88% Poodle and 12% Golden Retriever. This is one of the MOST hypoallergenic combinations if both parents are F/F or have two furnishing genes. Usually, all the coats are curly and the puppy should NOT shed.

F2b- F1 X F1b = approx 67% Poodle and 33% Golden Retriever. Coats can be wavy, straight, or curly depending on the puppy.

Multigen- There are many combinations used to produce a multi-generational doodle. The most commonly used is F1b X F1b, F2b X F1b = F3 and higher. These combinations are more commonly called Multigen Goldendoodles. Coats can vary from a fluffy straight coat to wavy and curly. Multigen Goldendoodles are the most highly sought and least popular as it takes years and years of breeding to produce a multigenerational litter. Multigens are great for allergy sufferers if both parents are F/F or have two furnishing genes. Usually, all the coats are curly and the puppy should NOT shed.

What are Sheepadoodles like?

Our Sheepadoodles are clever, calm, obedient, and great with children. They are exceptionally gentle dogs that love their family and love to snuggle. Even large Sheepadoodles want to be lapdogs, much to the chagrin of their owners. Raised with a careful breeder, Sheepadoodles take on the OES traits and are adaptable, intelligent, affectionate, and easy-going while still maintaining the clownish and fun personality of the poodle. They are fast becoming popular therapy dogs as they have an unflappable temperament and a likelihood of a low-shed coat.

Sheepadoodles are very good “watchdogs.” While they will not harm an intruder, they can be trained to recognize a stranger and to bark a warning.

Are Doodles Hypoallergenic?

The answer to that is simply, it depends. It depends on the dog; it also depends on the owner’s sensitivity.

They are light to non-shedders and often do well for those with allergies. They require some light weekly brushing as well as occasional clipping.

What are Doodle “Coat Types” ?

When we talk about coats (wavy, curly, straight) we are not only talking about visual appearance, a good breeder (one who fully health tests their parent dogs), is also referring to coat DNA. Keep in mind, appearance is not set in stone and there is a lot for us to continue learning. For example, one of my straight girls (negative for curl -/- ) has matured into a coat that is rather curly! While one of my wavy coated girls (+/-) is so straight she appears as though she has a -/- coat and another wavy girl is so curly that she appears to be +/+. Also, the “look” of a particular doodle is often in how they are groomed, when the coat was first cut short, and how it is cared for on a daily basis. It is imperative you find a groomer knowledgeable in doodle coats who can help guide you.
