Our Head Start Puppy program is a rare and special opportunity for families who want to begin life with their dog on a solid footing, without navigating the most overwhelming early stages of puppyhood alone.
Head Start Puppies are not available often. Only a very small number are offered each year, and when they become available, they typically find their families quickly. This option is ideal for families who value intention, structure, and a strong beginning, while still shaping their dog’s future together.
Windsong’s Head Start Program starts puppies on the right foot!
They receive 24/7 care in a structured home environment with professional trainers for many additional weeks beyond the typical go-home age. During this time, they are guided through real-life routines, foundational training, and thoughtful socialization that most puppies do not receive so early.
These puppies have already begun learning how to settle, regulate excitement, rest calmly, and move through daily life with confidence and clarity. They enter their new homes with early foundations in place, making the transition smoother, calmer, and far less overwhelming for families.
Because we keep puppies longer, we gain a deeper understanding of who they truly are as individuals. Temperament, energy level, and ideal home fit are clearer, allowing for a more intentional and aligned match.
It is not about skipping the journey. It is about starting it with confidence, support, and joy.
Meet Maysie
Maysie is the sweetest mini Goldendoodle girl with a gentle, loving spirit and the most beautiful apricot coat with white markings. She is expected to mature to approximately 30–35lbs, making her the perfect size for families who want a sturdy adventure companion who is still small enough to curl up beside them on the couch.
This beautiful girl is affectionate, people-focused and incredibly easy to love. She has a soft, tender personality and truly enjoys being close to her people. She will be a wonderful match for a family looking for a puppy who can join them for everyday adventures and then settle in for love and snuggles at home.
Maysie is also completing our 4 week training before joining her forever family! She is building a strong foundation with crate training, potty training, leash skills, basic commands and appropriate household manners. She is learning how to settle, engage with her handler and confidently navigate everyday life. Her new family will get to enjoy the wonderful puppy stage with so much of the difficult early work already underway!
