But what exactly is Puppy Kindergarten? It is not just "playtime" or having the puppies meet new people. It is a scientifically-backed, high-touch developmental roadmap that begins when a puppy is only three days old. Our goal is to ensure every "Teddy Bear" leaves our living room not just as a pet, but as a well-adjusted scholar ready for "The Golden Life."
The Science: Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS)
The foundation of Puppy Kindergarten happens in the quiet of our nursery between Day 3 and Day 16. We perform Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS)—a series of five specific, gentle exercises designed to jumpstart the puppy's nervous system.
By performing these tiny "stress tests," we are actually rewiring the puppy's brain. Science shows that ENS graduates have stronger heartbeats, more efficient adrenal glands, and a much higher tolerance for stress. Whether your dog is destined for a busy city street in San Francisco or a therapy career in a hospital, Puppy Kindergarten gives them the biological resilience to remain calm and focused.
The Environment: Socialization Underfoot
A dog that is raised in a facility can never be perfectly prepared for a home. That is why our "classroom" is our living room. Our puppies are raised amidst the beautiful commotion of our family life, where they are socialized daily by our five children and our cats.
During Puppy Kindergarten, we introduce our scholars to:
Tactile Enrichment: Walking on wood, tile, grass, and carpet.
Sound Desensitization: Positive exposure to vacuums, doorbells, and the laughter of children.
Human Connection: Intentional one-on-one snuggles to nurture the "Velcro" temperament.
The Foundations: Den Logic and Mand Manners
Puppy Kindergarten also sets the stage for a stress-free transition to your home. We introduce the early concepts of Den Logic (crate conditioning) and Potty Foundations. We also teach our puppies how to "Mand"—a boutique training term for teaching a puppy to sit automatically to ask for attention rather than jumping.
